Farmville was released on June 19, 2009 by an incredible team of super human software developers. This was after 5 weeks of working at the Zynga headquarters in San Francisco, California. Like a wild dream come true, in 4 days of its release 1 million users were playing. At the moment it has over 60 million users in 7 months. Although the game has an easy format, there are some issues that have arose like what’s beta or how do I start the game over?
For the time being (February 2010) Farmville is in beta, which is understandable considering it is only in its infant stage. I have noticed the anxiety users get when speaking of this subject since they have invested some much time and money (Farmville Money and real life money) in the game.
The Farmville game itself is in beta, meaning it is still in the developmental stages and is not 100% complete. Traditionally, games or software in beta are given to a select group of testers. These testers review the game and report any problems or suggest improvements. Then finally, a final version of the game is released to the public. Farmville is somewhat unique in that the game is in an open beta. In other words, Farmville, in beta, is available to the public and all its users are testers. Now do not panic your crops and limited edition items are safe. The last thing Zynga (owners of the Farmville game) want to do is upset you.
There have been some in game issues that users have confusion with and we will go over some of those right here. The Farmville day consists of 23 hours so obviously if you see a plant that will take 2 days to harvest that’s 46 hours real time. No worries about saving your work on the farm because it automatically saves.
Now say you want to redo your whole Farmville experience because you spent all your money there is a solution to that. First, if you only want to delete an animal, building, or tree you can by selling them. Click on the item you want to get rid of and select sell from the menu. You will notice you will be paid less than what you bought the item for. Second, if you want to completely start over from scratch you will have to sit out for 60 days. Make sure you remove the application from the Facebook panel. Your whole Farmville profile will be erased. Wait 60 days and install the Farmville application again. From there you will get a fresh start.
